The Radiation Effects group investigates effects of space radiation on present and future microelectronic and optoelectronic technologies, evaluates the risk of using them in specific space missions, and recommends component and design techniques for JPL and NASA programs to reduce reliability risk from space radiation.

Facilities

The Radiation Effects Group maintains in-house facilities and partnerships with outside entities that support total ionizing dose testing with radioactive isotopes, single event effects testing with picosecond laser and single event effects testing at heavy ion accelerator facilities around the world.
